3-Days Tour from Marrakech to the Chegaga Dunes

Day 1: Marrakech – Zagora – M’Hamid

Departure in the morning from Marrakech at 7:30 am towards Ouarzazate. The Tizi N'Tichka road is a winding mountain road offering magnificent views of the valleys. In winter, the mountains are covered with snow. The pass reaches an altitude of 2260m.

After crossing the pass, you will take a small road leading to Télouet, where you will visit the first kasbah, that of the Glaoui, who governed the southern region during the French protectorate. Then you will continue the road to reach the Ounila Valley, a beautiful valley lined with adobe villages and beautiful kasbahs. Your next stop will be Ait Ben Haddo, the largest ksar, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has served as a backdrop for major films such as "Lawrence of Arabia" and "The Jewel of the Nile".

You will then arrive in Ouarzazate, where you will visit the film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah, also classified by UNESCO. After this stop in the capital of cinema, you will continue towards Agdz to reach the Draa Valley. From Agdz, you will follow this beautiful river between the mountains, lined with palm groves and magnificent millenary kasbahs, as well as villages with adobe houses. You will visit the Tamnougalt Kasbah, located 5 km after Agdz.

In Zagora, you will pass the famous "Timbuktu, 52 days" sign. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in M'Hamid, where you will exchange your 4x4 for camels that will take you into the dunes, where a bivouac awaits you to spend the night under the stars.

Day 2: M'Hamid – Chegaga Dunes

After admiring the sunrise, breakfast awaits you. Departure in a 4x4 towards M'Hamid, where the road ends, giving way to the tracks of the Sahara. You will head towards the Sacred Oasis. Lunch is taken in the shade of a palm tree or an acacia, then you will continue on the track towards the majestic Chegaga dunes, which rise to 300m in height over a distance of 40 km. A bivouac awaits you in the heart of these dunes, offering an immersion in a world of silence under a starry sky. You will share a meal and music with nomads around a campfire.

Day 3: Chegaga Dunes – Marrakech

After breakfast, you will head towards Lake Iriqui, a vast dried-up lake that can transform into a blooming garden after good rains. You will continue your journey passing through Foumz Guid, then Tazenaght, renowned for its Berber carpets. You will continue back to Marrakech, arriving in the evening in this magnificent city.
